Global Tech International signs agreement with US aircraft and automotive components manufacturer
Global Tech International (GTI) – a US based licensee of 3DM Worldwide plc, which is now marketing 3DM’s revolutionary plastic polymer molding process (“PIM process”); is pleased to announce that it has signed a non-exclusive sub-license agreement with PLASCOCorporation Inc. (www.plascocorp.com) regarding Aircraft Fuselage and Component Assemblies to be made using 3DM’s powder impression molding (PIM) technology.
With this new license, PLASCO intends to develop weight reducing applications using the PIM process for existing components that are manufactured for aircraft. Initially they will concentrate on parts such as air ducts which need less stringent testing and / or study. PLASCO will also work with GTI to develop products that will include bullet proof and antiballistic materials currently under development by GTI.
The PIM process is well suited to providing light-weight alternatives to existing products because the foamed core ‘sandwich’ configuration allows high-strength materials, such as aluminum honeycomb, ceramics, and various bullet proof materials, to be incorporated into components.
PLASCO was incorporated in 1986 to produce tooling, fixtures, gauges, stretch forms and assemblies for the aircraft industry. Shortly thereafter, certain automotive applications were included in the PLASCO family of products, including automotive parts, assembly toolings and stretch forms. Originally a resins manufacturer, PLASCO has evolved to become a prime aircraft and automotive supplier of tooling and production parts. A member of ASQ, PLASCO is ISO 9001 registered with Entela, Inc. and is Northrop Grumman SQR001 and SQR004 approved.
PLASCO is an approved supplier to Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Vought, Lockey, Sino Swearingen, Daewoo, Ford, General Motors & DaimlerChrysler. The company has facilities in Kyungnam Korea, Phoenix Arizona and several in the Detroit area.
